A local donation platform connecting surplus food, clothing and books with nearby NGOs, shelters and recipients. Supports listings, location-based discovery, claims and pickup-status updates.
India wastes an enormous amount of edible food, clothes, and other usable items every day — food from restaurants, hostels, and events, along with clothes and books that families and students no longer need — while millions of people, including underprivileged families, students, and shelter residents, lack access to these very resources. The core problem is the absence of an efficient, trustworthy channel connecting people/organizations with surplus items to those who need them nearby. Existing donation efforts largely rely on manual coordination (phone calls, social media posts), which is slow, unreliable, and offers no way to verify whether donated items (especially food) are actually safe or usable before being distributed. This affects donors (who want to give but lack an easy channel), NGOs/shelters (who struggle to discover nearby donations in time), and ultimately the recipients who go without.
Our platform, [Project Name], connects surplus food, clothing, and books donors — restaurants, households, event organizers, and individuals — directly with nearby NGOs, shelters, and recipients through a simple, location-aware listing system. Donors list what they have (with category-specific details like food expiry/storage or clothing condition), and Claude AI automatically evaluates food listings for a safety score and safe-till time, or a condition rating for clothes/books, so recipients can trust what they're claiming before pickup. Recipients browse nearby listings sorted by distance, claim what they need, and both parties get real-time status updates through the donation-to-pickup lifecycle. By combining AI-driven trust/safety verification with hyperlocal matching, we reduce wastage, increase donor confidence, and make redistribution faster and safer than existing manual or unverified donation methods
