A WhatsApp chatbot for BMC field officers and a web dashboard: it routes them to the nearest permitted artificial ghat and rates water risk against CPCB limits.
The problem
Following the NGT ban on idol immersion in Bhopal’s Upper and Lower Lakes, BMC ground officers face a massive logistical crisis: redirecting crowds to 4 new artificial ghats, preventing illegal immersions, and monitoring water toxicity in real-time. Traditional dashboards fail in the field—officers managing chaotic crowds cannot sit behind laptops. Furthermore, analyzing 3 years of historical MPPCB water data (1,524+ readings) to predict CPCB limit violations during the festival rush is currently a manual, reactive process.
How it works
We built GhatWatch AI, a dual-interface system combining a WhatsApp Chatbot for field officers with a central Web Dashboard for BMC command control.
Key Features:
- WhatsApp-First Field Tool: Officers text the bot from the ghat to get instant, actionable directives.
- Smart Geo-Routing: Using spatial math, the bot calculates the officer's location and instantly routes them to the nearest legal artificial ghat (Malikhadi, BU, Sanjeev Nagar, Neelbadh), enforcing the NGT ban.
- Predictive Water Risk: The AI analyzes the provided 2023–2025 dataset against CPCB limits (BOD/DO/pH) to warn officers if a ghat is approaching toxic "Class E" levels before visarjan begins.
- Dual-LLM Resilience: Powered by Google Gemini (for ultra-fast field replies) with Moonshot Kimi as an automatic fallback to ensure the system never goes down during peak festival traffic.
- Web Dashboard: A companion web app visualizes live bot queries, crowd diversions, and ghat risk levels for higher-level BMC officials.
