JalDrishti (जलदृष्टि) – Smart Visarjan Ghat Watch & Safety Platform

From Claude Impact Lab, Bhopal, 11 October 2026.

A bilingual platform comparing 2023–2025 water quality across seven Bhopal immersion ghats, with emergency contacts and ghat-readiness checklists.

The problem

During Durga Visarjan and Chhath Puja, ghats in Bhopal experience increased public activity, creating challenges related to water quality, crowd safety, emergency preparedness, sanitation and coordination of local support. Historical water-quality reports are difficult to interpret quickly, while information about ghat readiness, emergency contacts and available helpers can be fragmented. Authorities and citizens need a clear, evidence-based platform to understand historical water-quality risks, identify preparedness gaps and access relevant emergency information without confusing historical data with current safety conditions.

How it works

JalDrishti is a bilingual civic-tech decision-support platform for Bhopal's immersion ghats. It converts 2023–2025 historical water-quality monitoring data into an understandable comparison of seven ghats, with transparent provisional risk scoring, source references, search and filters. It also brings together public emergency contacts, ghat-readiness checklists, and a framework for adding new ghats and recording local support resources. Designed for both Durga Visarjan and Chhath Puja, the platform aims to help stakeholders identify potential concerns and organize preparedness more effectively. Historical findings are clearly distinguished from current conditions, and unverified resources are never presented as confirmed. The prototype is deployable as a lightweight web application and can be extended with verified data and authorized shared coordination in future versions.

How Claude was used

We used Claude Code as our AI-assisted development partner to inspect the existing codebase, improve the UI/UX, implement responsive dashboard components, integrate historical water-quality data, refine search and filtering, and troubleshoot JavaScript issues. We also used it to improve accessibility, preserve data transparency, and run tests before deployment. All changes were reviewed against the project requirements, with a focus on keeping historical evidence distinct from current water-safety claims.
