Petbot

Personalised pet tags with a QR code that links a lost pet’s tag to its digital profile, plus a dashboard for running the business behind them.

The problem

Pet owners love their pets, but when a dog or cat gets lost, one of the biggest problems is simply connecting the person who finds the pet with the family who is looking for them. Traditional collars and tags usually carry limited, static information, while microchips require a compatible scanner and access to a registry. The AVMA also recommends keeping visible identification tags alongside microchipping because collars and tags can help with quick identification when a pet is found. AVMA Store We identified a gap between physical pet identification and the digital world. Pet owners need something that is easy to use, personal to their pet, and capable of providing more useful information than just a name or phone number. The problem is experienced primarily by pet owners and their families, but also by people who find lost pets. There is also a business-side problem: managing personalized products, customer information, orders, payments, pet profiles, QR codes, inventory and communication manually can become complicated as the number of customers grows.

How it works

Petbot is a personalized smart pet-tag platform that connects a physical pet tag with a digital identity for the pet. We create personalized dog and cat tags with a unique QR code. The physical tag is designed around the pet — including their name and personalized artwork — while the QR code connects the tag to the pet's digital profile. If someone finds the pet, they can scan the QR code using a phone and access the relevant profile and a way to connect with the family. The experience is designed to be simple: personalize → purchase → create the pet profile → connect the QR code → attach the tag → scan when needed. Behind the customer-facing experience, Petbot also has a private management dashboard that acts as the operating system for the business. The dashboard allows the owner/admin to manage:

  • Overview: business activity and important operational information in one place.
  • Products: add, edit, publish/unpublish and manage products, including names, descriptions, prices, inventory, slugs and product images.
  • Orders: view and manage customer orders and their status from purchase through fulfillment.
  • Payments: track payment information and manually verify payments for the initial UPI-based payment workflow.
  • Customers: maintain customer/order information so purchases can be managed efficiently.
  • Pet Profiles: create and manage individual pet identities connected to QR codes.
  • QR/Pet Profile System: connect each physical tag to its corresponding digital pet profile.
  • Media: manage product images and other visual assets that can be used across the storefront.
  • Analytics: provide visibility into products, orders and business activity as the platform grows.
  • Notifications: surface important operational events such as new orders or actions requiring attention.
  • Settings: manage business and platform-level configuration and content.

The public website and dashboard use the same backend, so when the admin adds or updates a product, the storefront can automatically reflect those changes rather than relying on hardcoded product information. The larger idea behind Petbot is that the tag is not just an accessory — it is the physical entry point to a pet's digital identity. We want to make pet identification more personal, more accessible through everyday smartphones, and easier for both pet families and the business managing the entire experience. Petbot — More than a tag. A way back home.
