Designed to extract dissolved oxygen and BOD readings from reports, compare them with official standards and chart pollution trends across Bhopal’s ghats.
The problem
Water quality reports from Bhopal's idol immersion ghats contain important pollution data, but the information is buried in lengthy reports and is difficult to compare with official water quality standards or across different years. Our project aims to make this data easier to understand, identify concerning pollution levels, and help citizens and authorities monitor changes in water quality.
How it works
We are building Visarjan Ghat Watch, an AI-powered water quality analysis dashboard for Bhopal. The system will extract water quality parameters such as Dissolved Oxygen (DO) and Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) from available reports, compare readings with applicable official standards, and visualize pollution trends across different ghats, years, and festival periods. It will help users identify concerning readings and access the supporting data more easily. The system will clearly flag missing or uncertain information instead of making unsupported claims.
How Claude was used
We used Claude Code to assist with project planning, code generation, PDF data extraction, water quality analysis, dashboard development, and debugging. We reviewed and tested the generated code to verify that the system works as intended.
