GhatWise

From Claude Impact Lab, Bhopal, 11 October 2026.

Ranks Bhopal’s seven visarjan ghats by water-test risk against CPCB limits, with Hindi and English reasons and every number linked to its MPPCB report page.

The problem

Every Ganesh and Durga festival, MPPCB tests the water at Bhopal’s visarjan ghats before, during and one week after immersion. The results sit in 90 to 120 page PDFs that nobody lines up against the legal limits or compares year to year. So the BMC officer who plans ghat arrangements decides from memory where to send extra cleaning, aeration and testing. The numbers are alarming: dissolved oxygen was below 5 mg/l in 42 of 116 tests, BOD was above the limit in 100 of 112, and Bairagarh kund read 0 mg/l oxygen four times. Durga visarjan is on 20 October 2026, and the NGT has banned immersion in the Upper and Lower Lakes. GhatWise turns this buried data into a ranked ghat list with reasons and report-page proof, plus a Hindi/English brief.

How it works

GhatWise ranks Bhopal’s 7 visarjan ghats by water-test risk against CPCB limits, with plain Hindi/English reasons, every number linked to its MPPCB report page, a forwardable brief, and a public guide. Missing data stays missing, and there are no health claims. Built for BMC officers, useful to the public.

How Claude was used

We used Claude in the claude.ai chat as our pair programmer: it profiled the data, designed and tested the scoring method, wrote the Python and web code and the Hindi/English text, and ran unit and browser tests. We steered the product, reviewed it and deployed it on GitHub Pages.
