From Claude Impact Lab, Bhopal, 11 October 2026.

A bilingual prototype that turns 1,524 MPPCB readings from seven Bhopal ghats into a pre-visarjan brief: which ghats to review or sample first, and why.

The problem

MPPCB has valuable water-quality data for Bhopal’s immersion ghats, but it is buried across 90–120-page annual PDF reports. BMC and MPPCB officers must manually locate tables, compare years and identify missing tests before deciding where to inspect or sample. This makes evidence-based planning slow and difficult, especially before major immersion events. Historical results, data gaps and source pages are not available in one decision-ready view. The problem is therefore not a lack of data, but the lack of a simple, trustworthy system that converts existing data into clear priorities without overstating what the evidence proves.

How it works

SankatGhat is a bilingual, government-style decision-support prototype that converts 1,524 MPPCB readings from seven Bhopal ghats across 2023–2025 into an actionable pre-visarjan priority brief. It shows which ghats should be reviewed or sampled first, explains why, displays evidence confidence and missing-data warnings, and links every finding to the exact MPPCB report page.

Officers can compare ghats, examine parameter and event-phase patterns, review the approximately one-week post-immersion checkpoint, and generate a one-page Hindi-English brief for printing or WhatsApp sharing. SankatGhat clearly distinguishes historical evidence from current water status and recommends fresh verification where evidence is missing. It turns difficult PDF research into a transparent workflow an officer can understand in 30 seconds and act upon before the next immersion event.
